LIMIT (2006)

The work consists of nine poignant Polaroid self-portraits in which the artist’s face seems to be exploding in screams of despair. The screams portray a condition of confusion, despair and impasse. The condition remains ambiguous, as it is not clarified if what is being referred to is individual or collective conditions of existence, the political situation on a local or broader level, or a reaction to what is going on in the arts. It is a deeply personal work, emblematic of an age in which boundaries are crossed rapidly, while earlier stable values, relations or principles seem to be standing on quicksand.
